Ex-PM's name as Chancellor on VBU letterhead sparks row

Kolkata: Controversy was sparked off as Viswa Bharati University authorities sent letters to the district magistrate and district police in a letterhead with the name of Chancellor of the university being printed as Dr Manmohan Singh.
The university authorities have sent the letters to the district magistrate and district police to thank them for the successful completion of Poush Mela.
But it was found that the name of the Chancellor of the university on the letterhead was printed as Dr Manmohan Singh. It should have been Narendra Modi, as the Prime Minister of the country is always the Chancellor of the university.
The university authorities have stated that it happened by mistake. Somehow, an old letterhead was used. Though initially the university authorities were not giving much importance to it, they later expressed their apology over the incident.
The controversy was sparked off as soon as the matter came to light. Question has been raised on how such a mistake can take place when the matter is related to the Prime Minister of the country. It may be mentioned that there is no clear indication yet whether fresh letters will be sent to the district magistrate and the district police.MPOST
