ER to preserve old Jubilee Bridge structure

Kolkata: Harindra Rao, general manager of Eastern Railways has asked to make necessary arrangements to preserve old Jubilee Bridge structure.
The decision was taken at a high level meeting at ER Headquarters, Fairlie Place on Tuesday morning.
If it is preserved at a heritage structure then the educationists, historians and students and general public can see the same and know the details of the bridge as it is a unique structure.
The details of the bridge will be nicely displayed so that visitors at the site can see the structure and appreciate the display. He also asked Sealdah Division that the International Passenger Terminal at Kolkata station should also be planned to match with international standards as the foreign tourists will use the same.
Photographs of Railways history, heritage and achievements of the Railways in general and Eastern Railway in particular should be on display to attract
foreign visitors.
All running rooms, reserved accommodation at stations like Howrah, Sealdah, Asansol and Malda and other A-1 category stations should be well maintained and nicely decorated, keeping in view the importance of that particular locality. Photographs and other items should also be on display for
beautification of the area.
GM reviewed the performance of all the four divisions thoroughly and advised for better coordination amongst the departments and also better coordination with the Divisions & Headquarters for quick disposal of various sanctions and other related administrative functions.
