ER makes remarkable progress in freight loading

Kolkata: Though Eastern Railway is known as a passenger carrying Railway, it has made a mark by registering remarkable progress in freight loading and earning in the recently concluded financial year 2017-18 & occupied a pride of place amongst the freight loading Railways.

The total freight loading of Eastern Railway during the financial year 2017-18 recorded as 62.12 million tonne which is almost 1.8 million tonne more i.e. 2.97% higher than that of previous fiscal.

Eastern Railway succeeded in achieving an originating revenue loading of 6.82 million tonne in March 2018, registering an increase of 18.44% in respect of the corresponding month of previous financial

The total originating freight earning of Eastern Railway during the financial year 2017-18 increased to Rs 4845.21 crore in comparison to Rs 4587.49 crore earned in 2016-17.
