ER conducts ticket-checking drives

Kolkata: Eastern Railway conducted a ticket checking drive in various sections of its four Divisions viz. Howrah, Sealdah, Asansol and Malda to curb free travelling and to build awareness on the need for travelling with proper

ticket and proper booking of luggage.

Apart from day-to-day checking at station gates and on-board trains, ER conducts a special ticket checking drive with Ticket Checking Special trains in all the sections under ER jurisdiction.

As a result of such drives, ER has detected 24.75 lakh passengers travelling without ticket or with improper tickets and with un-booked luggage. Rs 56.03 crore has been earned from these passengers from April 1, 2018 to February 28, 2019, registering a growth of 29.76% in ticket checking earnings over the same period in last year.
