Engineering student's body found hanging

The body of a 20-year-old student was found hanging in a flat of an apartment in New Town on Wednesday. Police learnt that the youth was a student of an engineering college and was a resident of Durgapur. The police broke the door of the flat and found him hanging from the ceiling fan.

"The deceased, identified as Dhrubajyoti Deb, was a student of the University of Engineering and Management in New Town. We have informed his guardians," said a police source.

"We have searched the room but no suicide note was found. An unnatural death case was initiated, but we will definitely investigate all angles of this case," the police source added.

In another incident, the body of Mahammad Salim, a 35-year-old person was found lying beside a pond on Tuesday night at Joypur in Purulia. Police learnt that the man, an auto driver by profession, was involved in an argument with his brothers and elder sisters a few days ago over the possession of family property. The investigators suspect that the man was killed by his brothers who fled the area.
