Elderly patient at RG Kar goes missing

Kolkata: A 68-year-old man, who was admitted to the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital a few days ago, has gone missing from the hospital.

The family members of the victim lodged a complaint in a police station against the hospital authorities for their alleged medical negligence.

The patient identified as Bimal Dutta (68), a resident of Matigara in Siliguri fell inside the bathroom on July 10 and sustained severe injuries in his head. He was brought to the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. After some primary clinical tests the patient was admitted to the observation ward. The patient was responding to the treatment and gradually improving when he suddenly disappeared from the hospital. As the matter came to light the family members of the victim and hospital staff members searched for him at various other wards of the hospital but failed to get any trace of the patient.

Following the incident, the family members registered a missing diary at Tala police station. A complaint of medical negligence has also been lodged against the hospital authorities. On the basis of the complaint, the police have started a probe and examining the CCTV footages of the hospital.
