Elderly couple found dead at Behala flat

Kolkata: Mystery shrouds the death of an elderly couple whose bodies were found inside their residential apartment at Parnashree in Behala.
Police said the victims were lying on a pool of blood on the bed when they broke open the door and entered into the house.
Locals reported the matter to the local police after the victim did not open the door despite repeated knocks.
Police said the victims - Rathindra Roy and his wife Meenakshi were residing their alone. Their son stays outside the state for professional reasons and the daughter also got married a few years ago.
Locals alleged that none of them used to call the elderly couple to take a stock on their health. The elderly woman suffered cerebral attack two years ago and since then she had become completely bed ridden. Her husband was also suffering from age related ailments.
Some locals saw that the elderly man did not open the door despite repeated knocks. As there was no response, locals reported the matter to the local police who rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.
The incident spread tension in the area on Tuesday morning.
Police have recovered a suicide note saying that none was responsible for their death. According to preliminary investigation, police suspect that the woman might have died on Monday night following which Basu decided to kill self as he failed to bear the pain. He committed suicide by slitting his throat. Police have examined the suicide note and other samples from the room.
