EC seizes unaccounted cash worth Rs 26.35 crore

Kolkata: The Election Commission has seized about Rs 26.35 crore of unaccounted cash and around 11.28 lakh litre of liquor in West Bengal till Tuesday.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Basu on Tuesday told reporters that the commission has so far received 5,658 complaints on its portals out of which 99 are yet to be disposed off, he said.

The commission said that the grievances were registered on its cVIGIL app.

The poll panel has so far addressed most of the complaints.

According to a senior official of the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), the commission has taken all possible measures to ensure free and fair elections in Jalpaiguri (SC), Darjeeling and Raiganj constituencies during the second phase of elections scheduled to take place on April 18.

To ensure the free fair elections, the senior officials of the CEO office have held a number of

meetings with various electoral officers in the

districts.

A review meeting was also conducted to review the preparedness and law order situations in various South Bengal districts as well.
