Eastern Railway GM pays surprise visit to Howrah Stn

Kolkata: Harindra Rao, General Manager, Eastern Railway on Tuesday made a surprise visit to Howrah station complex.
He visited the food court, Jan Ahaar and also inspected the ongoing cleanliness drive at Howrah Station complex. It may be mentioned here that Eastern Railway is observing Swachhta Pakhwada from August 16 to 31.
Rao later boarded the inspection car to go through the tracks, points, RRI Cabins, yard and other safety installations in the section, particularly in Bardhman station area. He was accompanied by ADRM, DRM/Howrah and officers of civil engineering, mechanical, safety and signal and telecom departments of Howrah Division besides Principal Officers of Eastern Railway.
He made it clear to all concerned officers and staff that safety was the most important priority for the Railways now, therefore, "No compromise will be made" in any lapses or violation of safety rules or manuals. He advised all staff and officers to strictly follow Safety Manual and act accordingly. No shortcut in working will be tolerated. Any violation will be dealt and viewed seriously and stringent punishment will be given in case of any lapses. As a motivation, staff and officers will be honoured when they perform any good work and help Railways in smooth operations.
At Bardhaman station, he inspected canteen and kitchen, waiting room, ticketing area and other passenger amenities related works.
He also interacted with the passengers, Railway officers and staff and urged them to give top most priority to safety of passengers. He said Eastern Railway's endeavour is to see the comfort, safety and security of the passengers.
At the same time he also emphasised on the punctuality of trains. He urged upon the passengers to keep trains and station premises clean and co-operate with the Railways.
