E-ticket for Eco Park visitors on Jan 1

Kolkata: Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) has introduced e-tickets for visitors to enter Eco Park avoiding long queues on January 1, 2018.
The decision has been taken after Eco Park recorded 1.07 lakh visitors on December 25, the highest ever by an urban park in the state.
Those who will buy e-tickets can enter Eco Park by showing their identity proofs without wasting any time at the ticket counter.
HIDCO will set up 20 ticket counters on January 1, 2018. To run them successfully, additional staff will be deployed and there will be senior HIDCO officials to oversee each counter. HIDCO has already set up six toilet blocks and another one will be put up near the area where the Seven Wonders are situated. CCTVs will be installed and staff will be engaged to do sweeping in the afternoon. The Seven Wonders were hot favourites among the visitors on December 25. The miniature of the Seven Wonders have been built with impeccable perfection. To give Taj Mahal a natural look, there is a waterbody that resembles river Yamuna flowing next to the structure. It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had urged HIDCO officials to construct the Seven Wonders for visitors. Her anticipation is correct as the Seven Wonders had recorded over 12,000 visitors on a Sunday. On December 25, a few thousand people had visited the site.
To ensure smooth flow of traffic on Biswa Bangla Sarani particularly in the evening, a new road has been constructed.
Eco Park, which stands on 480 acres of land surrounded by 112 acres of waterbody, is coming up as an important tourist destination. There is a Japanese garden and the replica of the Darjeeling toy train as well. Ghoom station has been recreated to near perfection. There is an arena where the visitors do cycling particularly riding tandem cycles. With adequate security arrangements in place, the main thoroughfares on New Town have been lit up to usher in the New Year.
