E Rly takes up measures to provide better amenities

Kolkata: Eastern Railway has taken up a slew of measure to provide better amenities to the passengers.

Some steps taken by Eastern Railway in August, include International Check Post (ICP) which has been commissioned at Kolkata station for smooth running of Kolkata-Dhaka Cantt Maitree Express.
All EMU locals of Sealdah South section have been converted to 12-car rake with effect from August 15 to accommodate more passengers,
A 6-metre wide subway has been commissioned at Ranaghat station, Three ATVMs have been commissioned at Sealdah station for purchasing tickets in a smooth way, One R.O. based water purifier with chiller plant (500 LPH) has been commissioned at Dakshineswar station to provide pure and hygienic drinking water to the passengers. Mechanised Laundries have already been introduced by ER at Sealdah, Howrah, Malda and Bhagalpur stations to provide clean and high-quality linen to railway passengers. At the same time, to meet the increasing demand, capacity of the Mechanised Laundry at Sealdah that caters to the prestigious trains like Rajdhani Express, Duronto Express, Darjeeling Mail, has been augmented from 4 tonne/day to 6 tonne/day i.e, from 6,500 packets/day to 8,000 packets/day.
