DYFI's rail-roko disrupts train services across Bengal

Kolkata: DYFI-sponsored rail-roko demanding employment in vacant posts in railway services, disrupted train services both on Eastern and South Eastern Railway sections today with agitators squatting on the tracks at different stations across West Bengal.
The squatters sat on on tracks around 1100 hours at Dhakuria, Panagarh, Durgapur, Malda, Kharagpur, Medinipur, Nadia and many other districts and disrupted train services
in peak hours in Howrah and Sealdah division.
The DYFI demanded among others to fill up the vacant posts in Railway Services and improvement of the amenities for passenger services.
Thousands of commuters after hours of waiting at different platforms returned home failing to go to their respective destinations.
There had been some commotion at the Dhakuria station where the TMC run labour force prevented some agitators from pulling out the driver from his cabin.
However, the RPF and GRP personnel arrived on time to defuse the situation.
In Suri station in Birbhum there was also some tense situation when the RPF prevented the DYFI activists from stopping the trains.
Rampurhat and Bolpur stations also faced similar situation.
