Drunk men attack police at Kesabpur

BALURGHAT: Police were attacked by a group of drunken tribal youths on Saturday night after the law enforcers went to a spot to arrest them. The incident took place at Kesabpur village under Gangarampur police station in South Dinajpur district.

The injured cops including the Sub-Inspector of police of Gangarampur police station, Mijanur Rahman were rescued and rushed to Gangarampur Super-specialty Hospital by other policemen.

A tribal woman, Lila Khala (47) was also injured during the scuffle. She hails from adjacent Shibbari. Police said there was a funeral ceremony of a tribal family in Kesabpur. South Dinajpur police chief Nagendra Nath Tripathi said police had raided the area to get hold of the drunken youths.
