Dreaded criminal arrested from Rajarhat

Kolkata: Bidhannagar police have arrested a dreaded criminal from Rajarhat and seized two fire arms and two rounds of cartridges from his possession.

Acting on specific information, a team of Bidhannahar police raided Raigachi area and arrested the accused Moktar Ali, alias, Mota Bappa.

According to police, the accused has been involved in various crime incidents.

He has been booked under sections 323, 506 and 307 of IPC and also 25/27 of Arms Act.

Police said the accused Moktar stormed into the house of Seikh Sohrabuddin and beat him up badly.

He also allegedly fired a few rounds to terrorise the family members.

Police also came to know in the investigation that he had been involved in various extortion incidents in Rajarhat and adjoining areas.

Locals also told police that Moktar has become a terror in the area as he used extort money from them in various pretext.

There had been several complaints against him at various police stations.

He had been at large for some time.

Police came to know that the accused would be visiting the area on Monday night.

Policemen in plain clothes raided the Roygachi area and arrested him.

Police are interrogating the accused. According to preliminary investigation, police suspect that others are also associated with the accused.

They are conducting raids to nab other associates.
