Domestic help arrested for stealing valuables from doctor's house

Kolkata: Police arrested a woman from Gabberia near Sandeshkhali in South 24 Parganas on Sunday afternoon in connection with a theft in the house of a doctor at Netaji Nagar in South Kolkata.
Police said that the woman Sushama Mondal, used to work as a domestic help, in the house of the complainant.
It may be mentioned that the valuables from the house of Dr Surjyasikha Das was stolen sometime in between October 5 to 16.
The domestic help fled the day the doctor found the valuables including jewellery and mobile phones missing from her house at NSC Bose Road.
It led to suspicion and police initiated a search for the woman. Acting on a tip-off, the police went to her house at Gabberia near Sandeshkhali in South 24 Parganas and arrested her. Police recovered some of the stolen valuables.
Sources said that the investigating officers are trying to find whether she has any past records of committing similar sorts of crime.
It may be mentioned that involvement of domestic help in such incidents came to light several times in the past. So the police urged citizens to verify whereabouts of a person before engaging as domestic helps in their houses. The police also advised the city dwellers to submit details of domestic help with the local police station so that it becomes easier to trace out the person in case he or she is found involved in any crime.
