Distribution infrastructure sees boost due to CESC investments

Kolkata: CESC has made substantial investments for upgrading the city's electrical distribution infrastructure as a part of the company's initiative to upgrade and modernise its electricity infrastructure to provide efficient and reliable electricity supply to the city in 2017-18.
In the generation sector, the Budge Budge plant of the company ranked amongst top performing power plant in the country (PLF greater than 90%) while Haldia power plant operating at a PLF of less than 86%.
In distribution CESC continues to achieve a load shedding free environment for its customers. It continues to upgrade the distribution infrastructure and processes for enhancing the quality and security of supply.
CESC gives maximum stress on customer service and has taken several steps to ensure that the customers have hassle free interaction with the company. Live chat with MD are organised on regular intervals.
Online application has been introduced for new HT consumer. An existing HT consumer can now access details like e bills, consumption history, payment history, aggremental load history, security deposit position through the website.
HT consumers have also been allotted a single point of contact in the rank of the deputy general manager for contacting CESC at any point in time.
The CESC has bagged several awards in 2017-18 for its achievement which include the prestigious Significant Achievement at the CII- Exim bank Award for Business 2017.
PBT, PAT and Total Comprehensive Income (TCI) for 2017-18 stood at Rs 1111 crore, Rs 871 crore and Rs 861 crore respectively compared to PBT of Rs 1101 crore, PAT of Rs 863 crore and TIC of Rs 824 crore for the previous year. YRD sales growth stood over 3.9% and the debt equity tario remained well below 1. T& D loss significantly lower than the previous year.
