Dilip Ghosh supports drinking cow urine to prevent COVID-19

Kolkata: The state BJP president Dilip Ghosh on Monday supported consumption of cow urine, a practice which a section is claiming to be the medicine to prevent COVID-19.

Ghosh said: "Yes I have taken cow urine and if needed will take it again. Everyone is aware of the benefits of cow urine and cow dung. All controversies are taking place just because BJP is making people aware of the same." Criticising Ghosh for such a comment, Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Manas Bhuniya said: "He needs to undergo treatment." The controversy had been sparked off on Sunday, when a person was found selling cow urine in Hooghly district and the same was also distributed in certain parts of Kolkata. This comes at the time when doctors have confirmed that taking cow urine doesn't help in curing or preventing COVID-19 and advisories stating precautionary measures that need to be taken have been issued by the Centre.

According to political leaders, such comments will leave an adverse affect on the society, as they would create confusion among people.
