Decomposed body of retired WBCS officer found

Kolkata: A decomposed body of a retired WBCS officer was found from his rented house on Monday night in Jadavpur.

The landlord found a foul smell emitting out from the part of the house where his tenant lived and he informed police about it. According to sources, on Monday night, a man called Jadavpur police station and informed that his tenant who is a retired WBCS officer identified as Sukriti Bhusan Dutta (80) is not responding to his calls and knocks on the door. He said a foul smell was emitting from the room.

Police rushed to the house located at 37/3, Ibrahimpur Road. After reaching the spot the landlord told the police

that Dutta resided on the first floor of his two -storied house. Following that the police

went upstairs and knocked on the door. After a few minutes, the police broke the door and found Dutta's decomposed body was lying on the floor of his room. It is learnt that Dutta used to reside alone at the rented house for long time. He was known as a good human being in the area. Police recovered the body and sent it for autopsy.

After a search of his room, police found no suicide note or any clues which could indicate towards foul play.

It is suspected that he had fallen sick due to his age and died before he could sought help from his landlord and neighbours.
