Deceased Presiding Officer's wife gets job with state govt

Balurghat: Arpita Roy, the wife of Rajkumar Roy, a Presiding Officer who died in mysterious circumstances, received an appointment letter from North Dinajpur District Magistrate Arvind Kumar Meena on Friday.

Rajkumar Roy, an assistant teacher of English in Rahatpur High Madrassa of Karandighi located on the outskirts of Raiganj, died on May 14.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had assured Roy's wife a suitable job under in the state government while the latter met her after the mishap in Kolkata. The state government had also issued a cheque of Rs 5,00,000 to her through the North Dinajpur district administration.

Arvind Kumar Meena handed over the appointment letter to her.

"She has been appointed as a clerk in the District Magistrate's office in Raiganj. The state government had earlier promised her a permanent job after the unfortunate incident," Meena said.

Roy's family hails from Siliguri's Phansidewa. He is survived by his wife and two kids.

Arpita Roy (Barman), overjoyed after getting the offer, said: "The Chief Minister had promised me this job which she has fulfilled. I have already received financial aid from the state."
