Cyber cops arrest duo for embezzling crores

Kolkata: Two persons were arrested by Bidhannagar Cyber Crime police station for siphoning a few crores from the bank account of a jute and cotton manufacturing company situated at Salt Lake Sector V.
The duo were arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the managing director of the company, which is associated with the business of exporting jute and cotton products to Europe, Brazil and many other countries.
A senior official of the cyber crime police station informed that two officials of the company were entrusted with the responsibility of creation and payment of bills and to supervise the financial matters on behalf of the company.
"The duo committed breach of trust and siphoned off more than Rs 1.5 crore from the company's bank account, after changing the password of the director of this company," the official said. "We have arrested Amit Lohia, the finance manager of the company and Sailendra Choubey, who is the accountant," K Sabari Rajkumar, deputy commissioner (detective department) of Bidhannagar Commissionerate said. It may be mentioned that Lohia is a resident of Rajarhat Road in Baguiati and Choubey is a resident of Station Road, Bhatta Nagar in Liluah, Howrah. The duo were arrested from their office at Salt Lake Sector V, late on Monday night.
"We have seized several bank documents from the arrested duo in connection with the bank accounts, where the cheated funds were transferred after the embezzlement," an investigating officer said.
