Crude bombs found on tracks: Train services hit in Sealdah South section

Kolkata: Train services were disrupted in Sealdah South section after crude bombs were recovered on the tracks near Ballygunge station.

According to sources, two country-made bombs were found beside railway tracks between Ballygunge and Park Circus stations.

The two crude bombs were found beside the down line tracks at 6.50 am near Bondel Gate flyover in south Kolkata, train services in the section were stopped as a precautionary measure.

"From 6:50 am to 7:35 am, the train movement

was stopped due to bomb recovery in Sealdah South division," said an official of Eastern Railway.

The incident took place

two days after the Eastern Railway conducted meeting on

the safety and security of passengers at Farlie Place on Tuesday.

The meeting comes after a letter, purportedly sent by Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), was been received by Rohtak Railway station officials in September threatening to blow up several railway stations.

"Suneet Sharma, General Manager, Eastern Railway held a high level meeting at ER Headquarters, Fairlie Place. Principal officers and DRMs were present in the meeting," said an official of Eastern Railway.

"I commute regularly from Park circus railway station to Mallikpur railway station. I urge the Eastern Railway to keep in mind about the

regular meetings of safety and security of the passsengers," said Parvez Akhtar, principal of Indian Era Public School situated Mallikpur.
