CRPF jawans recover landmine

CRPF jawans recovered a landmine from inside bushes behind a sub-health centre at Saluka in Jhargram on Friday morning.

Though the police suspect that it was planted by the Maoists during the Lalgarh movement, the landmine was found to be live. It was, however, disposed off on Friday.

A police officer said that CRPF jawans went to the spot after receiving information that a landmine was found planted behind the sub-health centre. Hundreds of people gathered in the area after knowing that a landmine was found. Thus, the CRPF jawans took necessary precautionary measures to avoid any untoward incident while diffusing it.

It may be mentioned that soon after receiving the information of the landmine, the attack on security forces at Sukma in Chattisgarh in which 26 jawans were killed came to
the mind of the CRPF jawans here and they became alert to restrict entry of any Maoists in Bengal. The state police, too, have taken all precautionary measures to restrict entry of any Maoist activists into the state's territory. The CRPF jawans posted in the camps at Belpahari, Jamboni, Nayagram and Gopiballavpur have been alerted too.
