Criminals loot jewellery from Medical College patient

Kolkata: A woman was robbed by two criminals on the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital premises here on Friday.

The duo had approached the woman to offer help when she was not feeling well. The victim identified as Ashima Kabasi of Baduria, who is a resident of North 24-Parganas, said on Friday morning that she went to the medical college and hospital as she was under treatment for various ailments. Kabasi had arrived at the medicine department of the hospital for a follow up treatment.

After visiting the doctor there, she went to the ENT department. After examining her, the doctor reportedly asked Kabasi to go through some medical tests. After consulting the doctor, Kabasi started looking for the centres, where the doctor told her to get the tests done. While she was searching for these places, a person approached her to offer help. The person told her that he would show her the place where she had to undergo the medical tests. At that moment, Kabasi started feeling unwell. Immediately, the man asked her to take a seat outside the principal's room.

Meanwhile, another person arrived at the spot and asked Kabasi to take off her jewellery and keep them inside her bag. While she was taking off her jewellery the duo quietly left the place saying they would come back shortly.

After a while, when Kabasi opened her bag she saw her jewellery was missing. Also, Rs 2,000 was also gone from the bag. Kabasi Immediately informed a staff member of the hospital. Later, she went to the police out post under Bowbazar police station located on the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital premises. There she lodged a complaint against the duo. Till Sunday no was held.
