Criminal held from English Bazar area

Police have arrested a dreaded criminal from English Bazar area in Malda. Police have recovered a pipe gun and one round of cartridge from his possession.

Police came to know in the interrogation that the accused Bikram Mondal is a resident of Raipur village under the English Bazar police station. The local residents found that the victim had been roaming around in the area aimlessly. This aroused suspicion of the local residents and they informed the matter to the police station.

Police reached the area and held the accused. After carrying out a search, the police recovered a pipe gun and a bullet from his possession. He was arrested by the police and taken to the police station. Police came to know in the interrogation that he had a plan to carry out dacoity in the area. He was waiting in the area for some other gang members who were coming from Kaliachak area. Police came to know that the miscreants had a plan to gather at the area from where he was arrested.

Police also said that the accused used to carry out various anti-social activities in the area. Police also suspect that the accused might have been involved in some of the dacoity incidents in various parts of the district. Police are interrogating the accused to know the names of the other gang members. Police also started a raid at various places to nab the other culprits. Police have started a detailed probe in this regard.
