CRB conducts surprise inspection at Howrah Station

Kolkata: Ashwani Lohani, chairman, Railway Board (CRB) conducted a surprise inspection at Howrah station on Wednesday night.
He arrived at the station at around 11.00 pm and inspected the Food Plaza's waiting area. He also examined the amenities of passengers which were available on the premises.
The DRM/Howrah, ADRM and other officers were present during the inspection. Harindra Rao, general manager, Eastern Railways also assisted Lohani. The chairman of the Railway Board discussed various development works related to passenger amenities, beautification of the station area and other facilities provided for the comfort of the passengers with Rao. He also advised the GM and other officers to strictly monitor the safety and further improvement of various amenities for passenger satisfaction. As a result of the ticket checking drive conducted by the Eastern Railways all over its jurisdiction from November 17 to November 23, a total of 42,750 persons were found travelling without or with improper tickets or were found carrying unbooked luggage. Rs 84,06,832 has been realised from the said offenders as fare and fine.
The ER will continue to conduct such drives against ticketless travelling and possession of unbooked luggage. Passengers are requested to travel in trains with proper tickets/authorities and to travel with dignity.
