Cops rescue girl with mental illness

Kolkata: Kolkata Police rescued a mentally-challenged minor girl from a bus on Monday evening and later handed her over to her father.

According to police, an anonymous caller called up the police and informed that a mentally-challenged girl had boarded a bus from Rajarhat-Nabanna route. As she couldn't tell where her home was, passengers decided to call the police. Sources claimed that despite the conductor was forcing her to deboard the bus, passengers didn't allow that.

The caller informed that the bus was at Rashmoni Bazar in Beliaghata. Sealdah traffic guard was informed and around 6:30 pm and the bus was intercepted in front of NRS Medical College and Hospital. Traffic police personnel rescued the girl and handed her over to Muchipara police station. Later, while interacting with her, the girl mentioned about Joynagar. The police contacted Joynagar police station in South 24-Parganas and found her father's address. Her father reached Muchipara police station and the girl was handed over to him.
