Cops question neighbours in Jodhpur Park murder

Kolkata: Police could not able to arrest any person in connection with the Jodhpur Park murder till Friday night. According to Kalyan Mukhopadhyay, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South East Division (SED) of Kolkata Police, no detection could be made in this case.

Sources informed that sleuths are almost sure that the elderly lady identified as Shyamali Ghosh (74) has been murdered by someone or some persons who were known to her. Primarily it is suspected that the killer or killers used to go to her flat often. Even Ghosh's mobile phone could not be found at the murder spot.

Police have already initiated International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number tracking to locate the lost mobile phone. On Friday after completion of autopsy examination, concerned surgeon could not able to point out the time of death as it was in highly decomposed state. But from the autopsy it has been confirmed that Ghosh has been killed by strangulation. Also several injury marks could be located on her head and body.

Though the motive is not clear, sleuths suspect that the murder was done over some gain. Though no costly things have been stolen, sleuths suspect that the gain might be in some other aspect. To know whether she had owned any land or property which she might had declared to give away to someone after her death, sleuths are contacting her keens.

Apart from her family members, police are also questioning another occupant of the said building who is a businessman by proffession. Sleuths came to know that when his close people used to visit Kolkata, he used to arrange the two flats in the same building on rent.

The caretaker of the building is also being questioned to find any clue. Ghosh was last seen on Tuesday afternoon by her neighbours when she told them that she is going to market.
