Cops attacked while arresting miscreant

Kolkata: Some miscreants beat up police personnel when the former went to arrest an accused.

The incident took place at Basanti in South 24 Parganas on Monday. A gang of miscreants who were creating trouble there attacked the police persons including some officers when they reached the spot to bring the situation under control.

According to the police, a clash broke out between two groups at Basanti. After hearing about the incident, the police went to the spot to bring the situation under control. The accused ransacked three police vehicles. Around 11 police personnel including some officers got injured in the incident. Some of the villagers were also involved in the incident.

The injured police officers were rushed to Basanti block hospital where some of them are undergoing treatment with serious injuries. One policeman received head injuries in the incident. Police said that some of the local villagers snatched the accused from the police. Police are conducting raids to nab the culprits.
