Construction of subways at Shreebhumi, Gholaghata to cause vehicle diversion

KOLKATA: Airport bound traffic along VIP Road will be diverted for construction of two subways at Shreebhumi and Gholaghata.
The construction of subways at these two locations was undertaken for safety of the pedestrians and to ensure smooth flow of traffic along VIP Road.
The population at
Shreebhumi and Gholaghata has gone up three to four times over the past two decades.
A notification issued by the Bidhannagar Commissionarate states that for construction of the subways, airport bound main carriage way will be blocked temporarily and two new cut outs will be set up on the median of VIP Road.
The cut-outs will be set up near Gholaghata bus stand and Shreebhumi bus stand.
In the morning, the vehicles coming from Ultadanga through Durgapur Bridge will be diverted towards service road from Dakshindari crossing and the vehicles coming from Ultadanga flyover will also be diverted towards service road just near Ultadanga flyover approach.
While in the evening, the vehicles coming from Ultadanga flyover will be allowed to move through the main carriage way upto the Gholaghata bus stand.
Following which the
vehicles will be allowed to move in the opposite diversion (in Kolkata flank) upto the new cut out formed on the median near Shreebhumi bus stand.
The vehicles will again be diverted towards airport bound main carriage way.
