Come forward and cooperate with us to fight dengue: Mayor

Kolkata: Mayor Sovan Chatterjee on Saturday urged people to come forward and cooperate with the Kolkata Municipal Corporation to eradicate dengue. "The number of dengue cases in the city has come down due to steps taken by the KMC and the state government but cooperation is required to eradicate the disease," he said while participating in a rally to create awareness against the vector-borne disease. Atin Ghosh, Member, Mayor-in-Council (Health) said: "This is the time when dengue carrying mosquitoes multiply and the residents should not allow water to accumulate in and around their houses." Shashi Panja, Minister of State for Child and Women Development and Social Welfare said the purpose of the rally is to ward off fear from people's minds. Rallies were held in all the 144 Wards. At the KMC headquarters, a colourful procession was taken out. mpost
