CM to visit West Burdwan, Purulia and Bankura

To attend benefits distribution programme and lay foundation stones of different projects

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will set out on Monday to attend benefits distribution programme, inaugurate and lay foundation stones of different projects in three districts — West Burdwan, Purulia and Bankura.
At the same time, state Chief Secretary Malay De will hold administrative review meetings of the districts to assess the progress of different development works.
On Monday, Banerjee will be addressing a benefits distribution programme in West Burdwan district. The programme will be held at Raghunathpur Jungalmahal Ground in Kanksa. The Chief Minister will inaugurate a set of projects from the programme at Kanksa. It includes karmatirthas in Andal and Durgapur, 11 newly constructed roads, three parks in Jamuria and Burnpur.
Banerjee will distribute benefits under different projects including Sabujsathi, Anandadhara, help to self help groups and financial support to farmers to buy agricultural tools.
Moreover, she will lay foundation of different projects including a power sub-station, a project to supply water to Kanchanpur and Basudebpur, an e-governance project of Durgapur Municipal Corporation, a solid waste management project, a green office building of Durgapur Municipal Corporation and a sports complex that will house a hostel for tribal people.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Banerjee will attend a similar programme in Purulia and Bankura respectively. The programme in Purulia will take place in Jhalda and in Bankura it will be held in Indpur.
On the same days, the Chief Secretary will hold administrative review meetings of these districts. It may be mentioned that the state government has taken several steps in ensuring timely completion of all the projects for an overall development of the state. The state government keeps reviewing the progress of work in all the districts and takes up immediate steps in case any project is found not getting implemented properly without any valid reason.
The administrative review meeting of Purulia district will take place in Purulia Town and that of Bankura will be held in Bankura Town. Senior officials of different departments of the state government will also be present in the meeting.
The police have strengthened the security arrangement in all the three districts to ensure that no untoward incident takes place during her visit. The concerned officials in districts will be asked whether they are facing any problem in implementing the tasks at the grass-root level. Officers of the bomb and dog squads started frisking the area where the Chief Minister will be addressing a large crowd on Monday.
