CM to preside over core committee meet on Oct 27

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will preside over the core committee meeting scheduled to be held at Nazrul Mancha on October 27.
All MPs, MLAs, district leaders upto the Panchayat level have been asked to remain present at the meeting. The meeting gains special significance in view of the Panchayat election scheduled to be held next year. It may be mentioned that in the administrative review meetings held in different districts in the past six months, Mamata Banerjee has over and again asked all the people's representatives to build intense contact with the masses. In the recently held administrative review meeting at Jhargram on October 10, she instructed district leaders to cooperate with the administration in giving best service to the people. "Do not sit idle. Go to the people and talk to them. Try to build their confidence before implementing any project. Also, talk to the administration to resolve any issue. Remember, our main work is to provide maximum service to the people," she told party MLAs and leaders who were present at the administrative review meeting at Jhargram.
It was learnt that after Kali Puja, the party leaders will start touring the districts. She has asked the district leaders to go to the people and inform them about various projects taken up by the state government for rural development.
It may be recalled that Panchayats and Rural Development department's schemes to improve road connectivity and provide drinking water to every rural house along with construction of toilets in every household under Nirmal Bangla Mission have changed the rural scenario since 2011.
But despite huge rural development, CPI(M) and the BJP are trying to make a dent in the rural vote bank by spreading canard against the party. It is likely that Mamata Banerjee will give a blueprint to be followed by party leaders for the ensuing Panchayat election.
