CM to pay floral tribute at Netaji's statue today

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will pay floral tributes at the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in Maidan on his 122nd birth anniversary on Tuesday.
The programme will be held at 12.15 pm with the Chief Minister paying her tribute.
Many dignitaries will also be present in the programme and the police have taken all necessary measures to tighten up the security in the area to avoid any untoward incident during the programme.
The Kolkata Police band will also be playing the national Anthem during the programme.
After paying her respect, the Chief Minister will also address the gathering.
It may be recalled that Banerjee had raised a demand to declare the birthday of Netaji as national holiday. She also demanded the same for Swami Vivekananda's birthday that falls on January 12.
Banerjee had even written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding that January 23 be declared as a national holiday.
On Saturday, she had tweeted that "Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose are national and international icons. I have written a letter to the Prime Minister urging the GOI to declare both their birthdays as national holidays." While addressing several rallies too, Banerjee had demanded that the Centre should declare national holiday on Netaji's birthday.
