CM to inaugurate several events at Calcutta Leather Complex

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate a series of events on July 18 at Calcutta Leather Complex in Bantala near Cognizant.

According to sources, the state government is expecting investment of over Rs 5,000 crore in the restructured Calcutta Leather Complex in the next five years, which is expected to generate employment for three lakh people. State Finance, Industry and Commerce and Information Technology and e-Governance minister Amit Mitra will also grace the occasion.

He had earlier announced that the state government was planning to spend Rs 540 crore for infrastructural development in order to turn the leather hub into the world's largest. There are plans to add 200 more tanneries and

230 more leather units

and footwear parks to the existing ones.
