CM pays visit to ailing Buddhadeb Bhattacharya

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday evening visited former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee at his Palm Avenue residence as he had been suffering from respiratory distress for the past few days.
She spent around five minutes with Bhattacharya and asked him about his health condition. She also assured the former Chief Minister of all assistance. It was learnt that she went to his residence at around 7.05 pm and left his house at around 7.12 pm. The health condition of the former Chief Minister is stated to be stable now. According to sources within the CPI(M), Bhattacharya's condition improved from earlier. He was suffering from severe respiratory distress on Sunday following which he was provided oxygen.
He had fallen ill on last Friday when he came to the CPI(M)'s state office on Alimuddin Street. He suddenly complained of a bleeding nose when he was at the party office. Some of his party colleagues informed a doctor who reached the spot and treated him. He was rushed to his residence at Palm Avenue by her fellow party leaders. After being informed, his family physicians also went to see the former CM at his residence. The doctors suggested him to get admitted to a hospital which Bhattacharya readily denied and is presently undergoing treatment at his residence for the past three days. On Sunday, he was given oxygen support as he was complaining of serious respiratory distress but there was improvement on Monday.
