CM issues notification with increased number of holidays in 2018

Kolkata: Mamata Banerjee government has issued a notification on Friday declaring 35 days holiday for state government employees in 2018.
It may be mentioned that there was 27 days holiday in 2017. So the number of holidays getting increased by eight days has brought smiles on the faces of the employees.
It may be recalled that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had already made the announcement that there will be an increase in number of holidays from 27 to 35 days in 2018 compared to that of the current year. She had made the announcement while addressing a conference of the Paschim Banga Rajya Sarkar Karmachari Federation at Nazrul Mancha on September 7.
There will be a holiday at a stretch for 13 days during Durga Puja in 2018 and it may go up to 16 days if an employee takes a leave on October 26, 2018. The Puja holiday in 2018 will begin from the day of Sasthi that is on October 15 which is Monday.
So basically, the holiday for the employees will start from Saturday that is October
13 and it will continue till October 28 if one takes leave just for a day on October 26 with Lakshmi Puja on October 24 in between.
In 2018, yearly closing of Bank account on April 1, Bengali New Year's Day on April 15 and the additional holiday for a day for Durga Puja on October 21 are on Sundays.
Since it is a public holiday under the NI Act, it has not been included in the list of holidays.
