Clinics raided in Siliguri, 'fake docs' under police scanner

Darjeeling: The district administration, along with the Health department, raided different clinics, weeding out fake medical practitioners.
"We have received complaints against certain clinics and fake doctors. We have started investigating the cases along with the district administration" stated Pralay Acharya, Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH,) Darjeeling.
FIR has been lodged against the alleged fake medical practitioners. Health and district administration officials raided "Modern Health Clinic" at Biswadeep Complex, Pradhannagar, Siliguri.
The ACMOH lodged an FIR with the Pradhannagar police station, asking that necessary action be initiated against one Andaz Hussain Lama, who claimed to be a doctor and used to run the clinic.
"He is a fake doctor having fake Unani and Homoeopathy degree. He prescribes allopathic medicines without any valid qualification," stated the FIR. The Sub Divisional Officer lodged one FIR at the Pradhannagar police station and the other at the Siliguri town police station.
The FIR lodged at the Pradhannagar police station stated that a raid had been conducted at M N Mondal Clinic at Mallaguri More, Hill Cart Road, Siliguri run by M N Mondal.
During a raid at the clinic, a prescription pad in the name of Amit Kumar Das was found in the clinic but Dr Das could not be located. Mondal was found treating patients without any valid degree.
The clinic does not have a valid registration under West Bengal Clinical Establishment Act 2017. An FIR has been lodged against Mondal and Amit Kumar Das.
FIR has also been lodged against one Moghal Srinusha, who was running a Madrasi clinic without any valid degree at Venus More, Siliguri. He was issuing prescription under names of Dr M K Rao and Dr Yesu Babu. An FIR has been lodged in the name of Srinusha, Rao and Yesu.
On investigation, address of the institution that appears in the certificates of Unani Practitioner Todarmal Tiwar differs from the original institute. "We have received FIRs. Investigations are on. No arrest has been made yet," stated Sunil Kumar Chowdhury, Commissioner of Police, Siliguri Metropolitan Police.
