Class X boy beaten up at hostel on theft charges

BALURGHAT: A Class X student who stays at the hostel of Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya in South Dinajpur district was allegedly beaten up by some senior students residing at the same place on the basis of theft allegations.
The victim student, Wasim Feroz Sarkar was admitted to Balurghat hospital by the school authority for treatment.
A written complaint has already been lodged against the accused students by Wasim's parents with principal B K Singh. No action has been taken so far till the last report came in.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night when some students studying in Class XI and XII allegedly thrashed Wasim blaming him of stealing Rs 500. They didn't show any mercy to him even when the victim told the seniors about his ignorance regarding the matter.
The seniors according to Wasim had attacked him with bamboo sticks too for acknowledgement.
Hostel staff after being informed by other boys rushed to the spot, rescued him from their clutches and admitted him to the
hospital that night.
On being called about the incident, the worried parents also rushed to the hospital. Wasim received severe injuries on his shoulder and back.
Notably, Wasim is a permanent resident of Trimohini in the same district. He took admission in Class VI at Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya in 2014.
His father Abdul Latif Sarkar and mother Mamtaz Begam demand stringent action against the accused.
"My son is innocent. They had beaten up him on false allegation. They should be punished by the school authority," Abdul Latif Sarkar said.
The school principal B K Singh, however, denies for any statement on the issue.
