Class V girl sexually abused by electrician

KOLKATA: North 24-Parganas police have arrested a 60-year-old man for his alleged involvement in abusing a class VI girl.
The incident took place at Surya Sen Pally of Barasat in North 24-Parganas. According to police, the accused Tapan Sen, who works as an electrician, went to the house of the victim and allegedly sexually abused the girl as she was alone. Accused Tapan Sen was allowed inside the house as he told her that he wanted to do some electrical work in the house. After he entered the house, he touched her inappropriately. The girl being subjected to abuse started shouting. This drew the attention of her neighbours who rushed to the spot.
They managed to get hold of the accused who was trying to flee. Locals called police and later handed over the accused.
The family members found the girl in a distressed condition when they returned home. She was so traumatised that her parents had to take her to a local doctor. On Wednesday, the family members told police that their baby is yet to recover the shock she had gone through. She was still under medication, police said.
Police said the accused had visited the house of the victim in a few previous occasions for some electrical works and had become familiar with the baby girl. As a result, she opened the door.
Police have started a specific case on the basis of the complaint lodged by the family members of the victim.
They have booked the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012. It was learnt that the accused had admitted his crime during police interrogation.
