Clash between TMC factions at North 24-Parganas

Kolkata: A clash broke out between two factions within Trinamool Congress at Sashan in North 24-Parganas on Saturday night.

Supporters of both factions were injured in the clash. Both the group members allegedly hurled bombs at their opponents.

A police jeep was also ransacked when the policemen reached the spot. Some police personnel were also attacked allegedly by the group members.

Police later arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the incident.

A police picket was set up in the area on Sunday morning. It was alleged that the clash broke out between the two groups over the possession of the area and also due to the distribution of money collected from the bheris in the area.

After being informed the police reached the spot late on Saturday night.

Some of group members allegedly hurled a bomb at the police vehicle.

The incident caused tension among local residents.

A huge contingent of police was deployed at the spot to bring the situation under control.

After starting the investigation, the police arrested three persons and also conducted raids to nab other culprits. District Trinamool Congress leaders said action would be taken if any Trinamool Congress activists were found to be involved in the incident.
