CID Arrests Gurung's close aide from Delhi

Kolkata: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested one Manoj Sankar, a close associate of Bimal Gurung, from Delhi's Safdarjung Enclave on Wednesday morning.
Sources in the CID said that Shankar was arrested on charges of extending financial support to Gurung, who was booked under UAPA on charges of carrying out anti-national activities in the Hills.
It may be recalled that the state government had ordered a CID probe into the incident of October 13 in which Sub-Inspector Amitava Malik was shot dead during an ambush by bodyguards of Gurung.
The investigating officers came to know that Sankar was the "think tank" of Gurung and he also used to extend financial assistance to him.
The officers of CID went to Delhi and arrested Sankar. He was brought to Kolkata in an evening flight on Wednesday.
The police are also in search of Gurung and he had managed to flee twice when police raided his hideouts. It is learnt that the police will be questioning Sankar to get more information about Gurung considering that it will help the police to arrest him.
Sankar was booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, West Bengal Maintenance of Public Order Act and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
