Chingrighata flyover to open 3.5 hours later than planned

Kolkata: Chingrighata flyover will be opened for vehicular movement from 11:30 am on Monday instead of 8 am. As a result, it is feared that huge traffic congestion may occur on Monday. Kolkata Police claimed that Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) authorities have asked for more time to complete load testing.

Earlier, it was decided that Chingrighata flyover will be closed from 9 pm on Friday to 8 am on Monday for load capacity test. During the period, vehicles availing Chingrighata flyover for New Town and Salt Lake will have to take a right turn from Beliaghata crossing.

On Sunday, KMDA informed police that they need some more time to complete the work. After a discussion between Kolkata Police and KMDA officials, it has been decided to keep the flyover closed till 11:30 am on Monday. KMDA will complete the work by 11 am. See P4
