Charge of sexual abuse emerges in Netaji Nagar double murder case

Kolkata: The accused mason in the Netaji Nagar elderly couple murder case has been found to have sexually abused the elderly woman before killing her.

On Friday, police filed a chargesheet against the accused Md Hamruj Alam, where the point has been mentioned. He has been accused of murder, rape and voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery. The chargsheet contains more than 300 pages and 50 witnesses were examined during the probe. According to police, during interrogation Alam narrated how he killed the elderly couple. While hearing the details, senior police officials were stunned as Alam claimed that he had used a paint roller to sexually torture the woman. Later, he killed her and went upstairs to kill the elderly man who was completely bedridden.

The murders were committed on the night of July 29. During interrogation, police found a CCTV footage where a suspect was seen walking away from the area on the night of murder. When police went with the picture to some labourers, they identified the man as Alam, who lives at Renia near Netaji Nagar. When police reached Alam's rented residence, they found that he had fled.

Police managed to get his phone number but found it switched off. They then came to know that he is originally from Barsoi at Katihar in Bihar and a team went there to locate him. After reaching Barsoi, Kolkata Police nabbed him with assistance from Bihar Police.
