CESC all set to celebrate completion of 1st year in Kota

Kolkata: The CESC is all set to celebrate the completion of its first year of power distribution in Rajasthan on Friday.
The operation was started at Kota last year and thereafter the company extended its service to Bharatpur and Bikaner. Kota is Rajasthan's third most populous city. CESC formed a new Company ~ Kota Electricity Distribution Limited (KEDL) to sign a franchisee agreement for 20 years with Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL).
CESC Managing Director Aniruddha Basu said: "The first one year at Kota has been exciting when we succeeded in bringing our century-old power distribution experience to Kota and later extending similar franchisee services to Bharatpur and Bikaner. The number of consumers in these three cities is nearly half-a-million. Currently new connections are being provided almost within a day." CESC Rajasthan's Chief Executive Officer Amar Nath Singh said: "The three CESC franchises in Kota, Bikaner and Bharatpur cover 381 sq.kms with a population of more than 2 million. The total peak electricity demand in three cities has already touched 371 MW." After reviewing the first year of CESC distribution operation in Rajasthan, Singh said, ``There has been a noticeable improvement in the quality of our services through better maintenance of electrical installations and reduction in faults, which is an outcome of the Company's preventive maintenance drive." He also maintained that around 90% of no-power calls at Kota are now being restored within one hour. There has been a great deal of improvement in the billing procedure through computerisation.
