CCIM to introduce biometric attendance system in its colleges

KOLKATA: The Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) has decided to implement Aadhaar enabled GPS tagged Bio-metric Attendance System (AGBAS) for teaching and non-teaching staff, hospital staff and PG students in all the Ayurveda, Sidhha, Unani Colleges coming under the purview of the council in the country.
All the teaching and non-teaching staff, hospital staff and others in all the Ayurveda, Unani, Sidhha medical colleges will be enrolled in AGBAS as a onetime activity. AGBS app can be installed on individual android mobile phones.
The step is taken to bring transparency in the education system and fix the accountability of the doctors in these institutions. According to a recent order issued by the CCIM, the head of the institution shall ensure the availability of at least three android mobile phones/tablets with not less than 3G network speed and front facing cameras at the time of enrolment. Android device and fingerprint scanners will not be supplied by the CCIM.
The heads of the institutions have to ensure the availability of teaching and non-teaching staff, hospital staff and Post-graduate students in colleges during the enrolment
process.
The college authorities have to ensure the availability of the faculty data along with Aadhar card details for the purpose of verification at the time of enrolment.
There must be convenient room in the institutions with basic infrastructure like tables, chairs and uninterrupted power connection for carrying out the enrolment process for AGBAS. As per the order, the heads shall ensure the availability of minimum one attendance device (android device installed with the AGBAS app and fingerprint scanner) each at classrooms block, administrative block and hospital block.
The upkeep of the AGBAS app installed on mobile devices shall be the responsibility of the medical colleges for which they shall submit an undertaking ensuring about the up-keep of AGBAS app and also ensure that no physical/ software damage shall occur to the devices. The heads of the institutions shall ensure immediate replacement of AGBAS app installed on mobile devices in case any such damage. The user ID to log in will be the institution ID already given by the CCIM. It has already instructed the Ayureveda and other medical colleges under its fold to implement attendance by 30 January this year.
