CBI summons KD Singh in Narada case

Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has sent a notice to KD Singh summoning him for interrogation in connection with the Narada sting operation.
Sources said the former CEO of Narada News, Mathew Samuel, went to the office of the CBI on Monday and handed over some documents and a pen drive.
It may be mentioned that CBI officers had been trying to ascertain the source of money that was used in the sting operation.
It was in March 2017, Samuel had claimed that Tehelka, whose major shareholder is Singh, had given him Rs 80 lakh for the sting operation.
But soon after the video footages of the sting operation were leaked, Samuel had claimed that some of his friends from Dubai, US and Australia had funded the sting operation.
Again in December 2017, Singh's company had claimed that no money was given to Samuel by them to carry out the sting operation.
A CBI officer said it has become crucial to reach a conclusion on who had actually funded the sting operation and that is the reason behind summoning Singh.
It is learnt that the pen drive, which Samuel gave to CBI on Monday, contains documents related to the funding of the sting operation.
