CBI raids homes, offices of Amanat boss, directors

Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday conducted searches in the houses and offices of senior officials including Chairman and Managing Director of a chit fund company Amanat Group of Companies.
Raids have been conducted at different places in the state, including Kolkata. The CBI officers searched the residence and office of the company's CMD Amanda Chandra. Raids were conducted at the residences and offices of other directors of the group as well.
Several incriminating documents have been recovered.
It may be mentioned that a case had been registered under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on charges of Criminal Conspiracy (120 B IPC) and Cheating (420 IPC) against the CMD and others directors of the Kolkata-based group. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the group has illegally collected huge amount of money from common people through different chit fund schemes.
