CBI interrogates Rajeev Kumar at its Salt Lake office

Kolkata: Former Commissioner of Police (CP), Kolkata, Rajeev Kumar, was interrogated by the Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday at CGO Complex in Salt Lake in connection

with Saradha chit fund scam case. Kumar was summoned by the CBI earlier for recording his statement.

According to sources, on Friday, around 11 am, Kumar reached the CBI office. He was questioned for almost four hours. Sources informed that he was asked questions on the basis of the statement he recorded in Shilong a few months ago.

Apart from Kumar, Madan Mitra's former personal secretary Bapi Karim was also interrogated on Friday regarding the same case. Earlier, three police officials were questioned, who had investigated the Saradha chit fund scam case.

One of them is still posted in a police station under Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate. Another officer is posted at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) while the other officer retired approximately a few a year ago.

Following Supreme Court's order Kumar went to Calcutta High Court where he was given protection from arrest.

However, the court also ordered Kumar to appear before the CBI whenever they call him. As per the order of Calcutta High Court, Kumar appeared before the central investigating agency on Friday. Sources informed that Kumar could be called again for questioning.
