CBI conducts raids at premises linked to Sumangal Industries

Kolkata: Officers of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted
raids in offices and houses of senior officials of Sumangal Industries.
Sources said that central investigating agency has conducted the raids after receiving information that the group had been allegedly collecting money from common people through different schemes after assuring high rates of return.
Raids were conducted in 13 different places. Around 50 officers of the CBI got divided into several groups and conducted the raids that started in the morning and continued for several hours.
Raids were conducted in offices in different places including Jawaharlal Nehru Road and Cornfield Road in Kolkata.
The CBI officers also went to Mogra in Hooghly where
they searched the office and residence of the chief of the group, Subrata Adhikari.
Sources said several documents were seized during the raids and the senior officials of the group will be summoned soon for investigation.
The CBI officers would summon them after going through the documents those have been seized during the raid on Friday.
The CBI officers are now trying to ascertain the time from when the group had been raising money
through different schemes from common people and in which areas the group had managed to
spread its tentacles.
While searching the offices and houses, the CBI officers have also questioned the officials and other members of the group who were
present at the spot during the raid.
It is learnt that the CBI officers have not got satisfactory answers to their questions.
