Calcutta Medical College & Hospital to showcause latecomers

Kolkata: The Calcutta Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) authorities have decide to issue show cause notices to the employees who are coming late to the hospital.

One of the main objectives of the initiative is to keep tabs on the hospitals employees, doctors and nursing staff who are turning up late. Rogi Kalyan Samiti chairman at the CMCH Nirmal Maji visited the hospital on Saturday and found many staff members had not turn up on time.

Maji has asked all the senior officials of the hospital to ensure that the all the staff members, including doctors and nursing staff, come on time.

There were complaints that some of the staff members of the hospital often reach

late and this hampers the services at the hospital. Maji has given a clear instruction to the hospital officials that all the staff members must register biometric attendance within 9.30 am. If they fail to reach on time they have to take half CL for the day. Those found registering their biometric attendance after 10am would be marked as absent.

Maji also went through the attendance book, which is used besides the biometric registration system at the hospital.

"We came to know that some people are coming late to the hospital. We found some people register biometric attendance after the scheduled

time. All the staff members must enter by 9.30 am failing which action will be taken against them," Maji said. A senior official of the hospital was not in his office when the Rogi Kalyan Samiti chairman reached the hospital.

The State health department has introduced biometric attendance system in various medical colleges and hospitals to check absenteeism of doctors. The new system has also been started at various district and sub-divisional hospitals across the state. Earlier, health department used to receive complaints from district and sub-divisional hospitals that doctors do not visit the hospitals on a regular basis and some do not enter the premises on time.
